Biography of Tatiana Golovin

Tatiana Golovin (Татьяна Головин or Татьяна Головина) (born January 25, 1988) is a professional tennis player.

She was born in Moscow, but moved to Paris with her parents and obtained French citizenship. She also spent six years at Nick Bollettieri's tennis camp in Bradenton, Florida and speaks fluent English as a result.

As a female her surname in Russian would normally be "Golovina", but as a French citizen she legally has the same surname as her father (of French descent). Russian sources are divided on whether to spell her name in Russian as "Golovin" (Головин) or "Golovina" (Головина), but "Golovin" seems to prevail. She writes her name as "Golovin" although the traditional French transliteration would be "Golovine". In French, the pronunciations of these two spellings differ.

Tatiana's surname resembles French surnames in many ways as it has strong common roots, spellings, pronunciation as French surnames, as opposed to the Russian surnames.

Whichever way Tatiana's surname is regarded, French or Russian, it is originally a French surname with French heritage, showing the French roots of which she is proud.

In 2004 she won the mixed doubles trophy at the French Open with Richard Gasquet
