Johansson's father, Karsten Johansson, was born in Denmark; her mother, Melanie Sloan, comes from a Bronx-bred Jewish American family, although Scarlett was not raised in any religion and is an atheist.[1] Johansson's maternal ancestors originally came from Poland.
