Sara Rue (born January 26, 1979 in New York City, New York) is an American actress. She played the role of "Carmen Ferrara" on the drama Popular and currently stars as "Claudia Casey" on the sitcom Less Than Perfect. She guest-starred in 2000 as Joyce, the compulsive overeater sister of Grace Adler (Debra Messing), on the NBC sitcom Will & Grace. Rue, the elder of two daughters, was raised in New York City; her parents were active in Broadway theaters. She began her own acting career at the age of nine, appearing in the film Rocket Gibraltar as Kevin Spacey's daughter (and as the late Burt Lancaster's granddaughter) She won critical acclaim for her television series debut, starring in the comedy Grand, before going on to work on Phenom, Minor Adjustments, Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane, ER, The Division and Popular. She has appeared in several films (A Map of the World, Can't Hardly Wait, A Slipping Down Life, Gypsy 83), and so impressed director Michael Bay that a role was written in into the movie Pearl Harbor for her. She will shortly appear in an as yet untitled Mike Judge movie. |
