Samantha Brown is a host of several travel programs on the Travel Channel, a cable television network based in New York. In her role of hostess she introduces viewers to international vacation destinations, hotels and vacation homes, and explores the locations and activities these destinations offer. Her Travel Channel credits include Passport to Europe, Great Hotels, Great Vacation Homes, and Girl Meets Hawaii. Born in Dallas Texas in 1969, her family soon moved to the New Hampshire town of New Castle where she grew up. She took 12 years of voice lessons, and attended Syracuse University studying musical theater. Her early career included working in commercials, including playing the spokesperson "Wendy Wire" for a company called Century Cable. She was also involved in the comedy sketch group “The Mouthâ€Â, based in New York where she has lived for ten years. Her work in comedy is clearly apparent in the off-beat humor she brings to her travel shows. She has also appeared in several Broadway shows as an actress and singer. Throughout 1999 and 2000 the Travel Channel was looking for a travel hostess and a series of auditions were held and Samantha Brown was chosen. |
