Salli Elise Richardson-Whitfield (born November 23, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois) is a movie actress born to Marcia Harris, an African American and Cherokee mother and Duel Richardson, an Irish/Italian American father. She grew up in Chicago, where she played high school tennis, and launched her acting career in the Kuumba Workshop theater there.
