Rhona Mitra (born 9 August 1976 in Paddington, London, England) is a British actress of half-Indian, half-Irish descent. She is sometimes credited as Rona Mitra. Rhona Mitra is the daughter of Nora and Anthony Mitra. In 1984, Mitra's parents got divorced and, as part of an overall lifestyle change, eight-year-old Mitra was sent off to boarding school. Several years passed at two different all-girls schools, but Mitra was eventually expelled from both of them. Mitra is most famous for her roles as paralegal Tara Wilson on the legal drama The Practice (and its spin-off, Boston Legal) and as a live action model for Lara Croft from Eidos Interactive's Tomb Raider video game series. After becoming the official living embodiment of the video game character Lara Croft, she underwent breast implant surgery in an effort to properly "become" the fictional character. Her father is a renowned cosmetic surgeon, and at the time of her surgery, there was some controversy over whether or not it had been performed by her father. |
