Peri Gilpin (born Peri Kay O'Brien on May 27, 1961, in Waco, Texas) is one of the children of the late Jim O'Brien, a Baptist minister who became a musician, and a well-known and respected radio and TV News weatherman/personality in Philadelphia. Her siblings, Marc Gilpin and April Gilpin are also actors. Peri was known as Peri Kay Oldham later on, before becoming an actress.

She was raised in Dallas, Texas, and studied acting at the University of Texas at Austin and the British-American Academy in London. She is best known for her character Roz Doyle on the very successful U.S. television series Frasier.
