Kaori Mochida (æŒç”° 香織, Mochida Kaori), born March 24, 1978 in Tokyo, Japan, is the female lead singer of Every Little Thing, a Japanese pop group. Kaori was formerly a child actress, appearing in many child magazines and TV spots. Using the stage name of æŒç”° ã‹ãŠã‚Š (with Kaori written in hiragana) the little girl started to sing with a girl band called The Kuro Buta All-Stars (é»’BUTAオールスターズ), a group very similar to Morning Musume with lots of different girls; Kaori had the strongest voice of all of them. They after changed their name to Kuro Buta Tengoku (é»’BUTA天国). The band released only one CD titled Mou Ichido, which failed to chart. After this Kaori focused on her studies and left the band, which was later dissolved. When she finished school, Kaori decided that she wanted to become a professional singer, starting to record demo tapes and sending them to several record labels. She finally signed to label Avex Trax. Mitsuru Igarashi, music producer back then, heard Kaori's tape and asked her to be part of a new band called Every Little Thing along with Ichiro Ito and Igarashi himself. When Every Little Thing debuted in 1996, Kaori began to suffer scenic panic, after watching herself in every magazine, TV channel, and radio station of Japan; she used to get sick after every concert, but later it got better after getting more confidence. Several magazines have qualified her as a fashion icon because of her unique style. She has also promoted several products for Breeze, Toyota, Icebox, Morinaga and Nivea. Mochida provided vocals for the song "in case of me" on the 2002 charity compilation album song+nation. "in case of me" was written by Tetsuya Komuro and produced by Komuro and Max Matsuura. She also released a solo single in 2004 called "Itsu no manika shÅjo wa" (ã„ã¤ã®ã¾ã«ã‹å°‘女ã¯, "Itsu no manika shÅjo wa"). It was written and produced by Yosui Inoue. |
