Jewel Belair Staite (born June 2, 1982 in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada) is a Canadian actress, best known for her role as Kaylee Frye in the short-lived television series Firefly (2002) and its subsequent 2005 film, Serenity. Modelling as a child and acting since the young age of 6, Staite attended the Vancouver Film School and worked at the Vancouver Youth Theatre. Other television work includes Liar, Liar: Between Father and Daughter (1992), Flash Forward (TV Series) (1996), Space Cases (1996), Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show (1997), Da Vinci's Inquest (1998), and Higher Ground (2000). She has also been a guest star on The X Files, Just Deal, Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, and Stargate Atlantis. She has worked with the Dyslexia Foundation and several AIDS charities. Jewel married Matt Anderson on April 25, 2003.
