Jessie Wallace (born Karen Wallace on September 25, 1971) is a British actress who trained at the Poor School, Kings Cross, London from 1997-1999. Jessie played the part of Kathleen (Kat) Moon in the popular BBC One soap opera EastEnders. Her on-screen husband Alfie Moon was played by Shane Richie. They formerly ran the soap's pub, The Queen Victoria, but it then landed in the hands of the character Den Watts. Both Wallace and Richie left EastEnders in December 2005, with Jessie having been in the soap since 2000. It is widely reported by British tabloids that Jessie is an excessive drinker, and she has been convicted of drunk driving. She was set to marry Dave Morgan, one of the police officers who gave her a lift home from the drunk driving related court case, but they have broken up - reportedly because he was tipping off photographers of where he and Jessie were going and cashing in. She gave birth to her first child, Tallulah Lilac (7lb 7oz) on 3 November 2004. The child's godfather is Christopher Parker who also starred in Eastenders as Alfie Moon's younger brother Spencer. On May 8, 2005, Morgan gave an exclusive interview to British tabloid News of the World. In the article, he talks about Jessie's drunken ways and her sexual habits. Many believe he just did the interview for money. On February 17, 2006, Wallace presented the Channel 4 programme The Friday Night Project. |
