Hilarie Ross Burton (born July 1, 1982 in Sterling Park, Virginia to Bill and Lisa Burton) is an American actress best known for her portrayl of Peyton Sawyer, the high school cheerleader with an artistic side, on the WB Network television series One Tree Hill. Prior to her role on One Tree Hill, she worked as a VJ for the television show Total Request Live on MTV. She was only supposed to be a guest commentator for one segment, but producers decided to offer her a permanent job. She currently splits her time between New York City and Wilmington, North Carolina, where One Tree Hill is filmed.
