Gigi Edgley is an Australian actress known mostly for her role as Chiana on the Sci Fi channel original series Farscape. She is a traditionally trained actress with a B.A. in theatre from the Queensland University of Technology. Her father is Michael Edgley, the famous Australian concert and circus promoter. He was the promoter who brought out the Moscow State Circus to Australia in the 1980s. Gigi was born on November 16, 1977 in Perth, Australia. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Queensland University of Technology. As a firm believer in the school of method acting, Gigi has accumulated a truly remarkable set of skills and experiences she needed for her acting roles. Gigi is proficient in ballet, jazz, character dance, vocal singing as well as martial arts. Her signature skill is fire-twirling. Her early TV and film work included several independent productions (most notably with Anthony Simcoe) as well a guest star spot on popular Australian series Water Rats and a role in Australian movie production titled Day of the Roses. She is most known for her role as Chiana on a cult science fiction TV series Farscape. Originally, Gigi was hired for only one episode and her character was supposed to die at the end of the hour. As it turned out, the creators decided to keep her around for few more episodes. At the beginning of season 2 she was included as a regular on the show. After the cancelation of Farscape, Gigi pursued other projects. She appeared in popular Australian TV shows such as The Secret Life of Us and Stingers. She also recorded a music single titled Poison with a recording artist n8. The song is available as streaming audio on her webpbage in the music section. Gigi returned as Chiana in Scifi Channel's miniseries Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars. Gigi frequently appears at Science Fiction conventions and gives interviews to many magazines and radio stations around the world, including Triple J's breakfast show. |
