Tennessee is a 2008 drama film produced by Lee Daniels. V V S Films has acquired all Canadian rights for the movie, while the U.S. rights in owned by Lee Daniels Entertainment. The premiere of Tennessee took place at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26, 2008. According to Director Aaron Woodley, Tennessee is scheduled for theatrical release in December, 2008. Two brothers, Carter (Adam Rothenberg) and Ellis (Ethan Peck), embark on a journey from New Mexico to find their estranged father in the hopes of saving Ellis, who has been diagnosed with terminal leukemia. Along the way they meet Krystal (Mariah Carey), an aspiring singer who flees her controlling husband (Lance Reddick) to join them on their journey. Mariah Carey co-wrote "I've Got a Right To Dream" with Willie Nelson and performed it with Nelson's harmonica player, Mickey Raphael, for the movie's soundtrack. "It's not really [country]," says Nelson. "It's more Mariah." A Hollywood Reporter has said that the pacing is off, and the movie meanders until it reaches its unexpectedly powerful conclusion. |
