Teeth is a black comedy horror film written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein. It premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival in the independent drama category. Lionsgate and The Weinstein Company picked the film up for a release sometime in 2007. The film prominently features the concept of vagina dentata. During a violent encounter, Dawn, a high school student active in a chastity group, discovers that she has a toothed vagina. The films explores her experiences, both positive and negative, as the realisation of a folk myth. Reaction from the 2007 Sundance Film Festival seems to be positive, with Cinematical critic Scott Weinberg saying, "Teeth is precisely the sort of genre movie that we need to see more of." Adrienne Shelly Foundation artistic director Mystelle Brabbée declared it "one of the most talked-about films at the Sundance Film Festival this year". Director Mitchell Lichtenstein has expressed an interest in making a sequel. Taglines: Warning: Sex changes everything |
