Almost two weeks before the movies official release it was leaked onto the internet. After the death of their parents (Michael and Star from the first film), Chris (Tad Hilgenbrink) and Nicole Emerson (Autumn Reeser) move to Luna Bay to live with their Aunt Jillian (Gabrielle Rose). While exploring the town, Chris leaves his address at the home of Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman) in hopes of getting a job as a surfboard shaper. Edgar has become the towns only surfboard shaper. After returning to their new home Chris decides to sit and watch the ocean, he is there met by Shane Powers (Angus Sutherland), who invites him to a surf party later that night. Chris and his sister go to the party and Nicole is tricked into drinking Shane's blood, thus eventually turning her into a vampire. Shane then takes Nicole for a ride on his motorcycle while her brother is being distracted by a beautiful girl. Chris soon starts to look for Nicole and gets angry with Shane after their return. They leave the party and on the way home Nicole starts to feel sick. Once arriving at their home Nicole attacks Chris, but before she hurts him Edgar Frog knocks her out with a surfboard. Edgar then reveals that he is a vampire hunter, and Nicole has been infected by a member of the undead. Chris then throws Edgar out of the house and puts Nicole to bed. Soon the girl he was with from the party shows up and seduces Chris into making out with her again. While kissing, the girl sprouts fangs and tries to feed on Chris. He then pushes her away, and she is impaled and killed by taxidermy antlers. The next day Chris pays Edgar Frog another visit. Edgar tells Chris that he only let Chris throw him out because he knows what it's like to lose a family member to the other side, thus implying that his brother and partner, Alan Frog, is now a vampire. Edgar also tells him that his sister is only half-vampire and will remain that way unless she feeds, and she can be turned human again if they kill the head vampire. They decide that Chris will join up with the tribe of vampires and become one of them in order to gain their trust, only to betray them in the end. Chris finds the vampire gang, known as "The Tribe" and drinks Shane's blood during their campfire. During this time, John reveals to the human girls that are with them that they are vampires before attacking them. Chris pretends to attack one and tells her to run, but John sees this and bites the girl. John, Kyle, and Erik, now aware of Chris's betrayal, attack him. John is staked by Chris with a tree branch, but Chris still has yet to fight off Kyle and Erik. Edgar arrives and frightens them off by yelling, "WHO ORDERED THE STAKE?!" before showing them the wooden stakes in his hands. Chris and Edgar then set off to find Shane and the remaining members of the Tribe, and save Nicole. Once there, Chris drives a running drill into Erik's heart, and elsewhere, Edgar shoots Kyle in the head with a holy water balloon, causing his head to explode. Afterwards, Chris and Shane have a final showdown with Shane gaining the upper hand. Nicole intervenes and stakes Shane. Shane tries to pull Nicole onto the stake, but before he can do so he is decapitated by Chris, restoring them to normal. Edgar arrives to see Shane's burning corpse on the ground. He tells Chris and Nicole that they'll be getting a bill for his services. They return home where Aunt Jillian accuses them of doing drugs and promises a no tolerance policy. Chris and Nicole each respond to this by opening a can of beer. In a mid-credits scene, Edgar Frog encounters Sam Emerson (Corey Haim), now a vampire, and after exchanging some dialogue; they charge at each other before the credits resume. Edgar Frog hears a knock at his door. A voice says to him that they need to talk. The voice that calls to him is that of Sam Emerson (who isn't a vampire), While walking along the beach, Sam reveals to Edgar that his brother, Alan Frog, is coming to settle the score. Edgar is reluctant to acccept Sam's help, but Sam tells Edgar that he's going to need all the help he can get. The scene ends with vampiric Alan and a female companion heading towards Edgar's house. An extended version of the first alternate ending, But the difference shows that Sam is wearing black glasses and he shows Edgar bitemarks on his neck after telling him that Alan Frog is coming for him. Plans for a sequel to The Lost Boys had been in varying stage of development since the release of the original film. Director of the original film Joel Schumacher had wanted to do a sequel called The Lost Girls before the announcement of The Tribe, a film in which he has no input in and does not believe should be made. In addition, a script called Lost Boys: Devil May Cry was also considered. Corey Feldman will be returning as one of the vampire slaying "Frog Brothers," Edgar who initially was reluctant to participate in the sequel. Newcomer Greyston Holt, as Evan, finds himself up against the vampire horde after he becomes close to the object of the head vampire's affection, Reeser. Merwin Mondesir, Shaun Sipos, and Kyle Cassie have been cast as the vampires led by Angus Sutherland's character. Moneca Delain has also been added to the cast. Says Feldman on the film: "Warner Bros. has further developed the script — they brought on a great writer, Hans Rodionoff, who came up with a great story line. In the script, as it is today, I am one of the leads. My involvement is very close to what my involvement was in the first one. So I'm pretty much scattered throughout. Edgar was always an outcast, but here his close-knit family have drifted apart. They've had a major problem, and because of that problem, Edgar today is working alone. The film is about him trying to still carry the torch as it were, without the aid and assistance of his partners. That leaves him in an even lonelier and even more delicate place than he was in the first film being the outsider that he already was." In an interview with Fangoria, Tom Savini said the following in regards to his role in the film: "I'm one of the first vampires you see in the movie, I'm a surfer who runs into the vampires at the beginning of the film, in a sequence that is shot very Sergio Leone-style. They're shooting The Tribe in Vancouver right now, and I'll be there September 11." Jason Patric, who portrayed Michael in the first film, was rumored to be returning to the role for a small scene in the sequel; however, this was debunked in MTV's August 28 interview with Corey Feldman. Corey Haim briefly reprises his role as Sam Emerson, but only appears following a portion of the film's final credits. Jamison Newlander is also listed in the film's credits, although he only appears briefly as Alan Frog in the two alternative endings. Production on Lost Boys: The Tribe began in early 2007 and started filming in Vancouver, B.C. in August. Location shooting for the film is rumored to include San Diego and Vancouver, B.C.. Six weeks of production in Squamish and Richmond, outside of Vancouver, will wrap on Sept. 24. Wildstorm Comics has announced a prequel to the movie, focusing on Edgar and Alan Frog, entitled The Lost Boys: Reign of Frogs. It is a 4-issue miniseries scheduled that began shipping in May 2008. Gerard McMahon, who wrote and recorded the theme song "Cry Little Sister" for the original Lost Boys film, recently announced he has recorded several new songs for the sequel's soundtrack. Aiden have also recorded a version of "Cry Little Sister" to be used in the upcoming movie. Nathan Barr has composed the original score for the film. |
