Head in the Clouds is a 2004 film directed by John Duigan. The story is set in the 1930's. Gilda Bessé (Theron), an infamous socialite, shares her Paris apartment with a young Oxford undergraduate named Guy Malyon (Townsend) and Mia (Cruz), a refugee from Spain. As the world drifts toward war, Gilda defiantly pursues her hedonistic lifestyle and her burgeoning career as a photographer. However, both Guy and Mia head to Spain to join the fight against fascism, leaving a deceived Gilda back in Paris. After the death of Mia, Guy goes back to Paris, only to discover Gilda is in love with a Nazi officer, which may get her in trouble at the end of the War. However, she will save his life to prove her true love to him. |
