Far Cry is a 2008 film adapted from the video game Far Cry. The film is directed by Uwe Boll and stars Til Schweiger. The game-to-film enthusiast Uwe Boll, gained the rights to a Far Cry movie, purportedly even before the game was released. In an October 2006 interview, Uwe Boll said that production on Far Cry would begin in May 2007. "Handsome Tom" and "Stuttering Craig" from the video game website Screwattack.com make cameos in the movie; Craig is a scientist and Tom is a mercenary. The two won the cameos as part of an online auction put up by Boll on Ebay in order to raise capital for the movie. The auction had actually expired with no bids by the time Craig and Tom heard about the deal, but wrote to Boll saying that they will put up the "Buy it Now" price of the auction if promised the roles that had been listed. Boll agreed, with the funds being donated by fans and denizens of Screwattack.com's message boards. Anthony Bourdain also makes a cameo appearance as a scientist, an arrangement made while filming an episode of his show No Reservations about Vancouver, which is where the movie was shot and produced. His contribution to the film both on screen and behind the scenes was aired on Travel Channel as part of that episode. |
