Failure to Launch is an American romantic comedy motion picture. Tagline: To leave the nest, some men just need a little push. The premise involves a young woman (Parker) who is hired by parents of grown men still living at home, and who gets the offspring to move out of the house by making them fall for her and plan to live together. After they move out, she breaks up with them. When the parents (Bates and Bradshaw) of thirtysomething slacker Tripp (McConaughey), hire her to facilitate his leaving home, she instead falls in love with him for real. Deschanel plays her best friend and roommate; Bartha and Cooper play Trip's similarly slacker buddies. In its opening weekend, the film grossed a total of $24.6 million, ranking a strong first in the United States box office. As of April 2, 2006, the film has grossed a total of 73.2 million dollars in the United States Box Office. |
