Disclosure is a 1994 thriller based on Michael Crichton's novel of the same name. The movie stars Michael Douglas and Demi Moore and is directed by Barry Levinson. Tom Sanders (Douglas) is a brilliant analyst for the Digicom Corporation, a computer company in Seattle, Washington. Happily married with two young children, Tom had big hopes for a promotion to the top brass by his boss, Bob Garvin (Donald Sutherland). Instead, the job goes to Meredith Johnson (Moore), Tom's seductive ex-girlfriend. Somehow Tom takes it with a grain of salt, until a personal meeting turns into a night of seduction when Meredith decides to relive her sexual fantasy and pick up from where they left off. Tom refuses and shoves her away, leaving Meredith rejected, frustrated and furious. Tom decides to keep this encounter with Meredith to himself, but the next morning, discovers that Meredith has accused him of Sexual Harrassment. He tries to convince people that it was the other way round, only to find that everyone in the company believes it was he who is guilty. Tom's boss wants to keep this incident under wraps because of an upcoming merger and tries to transfer him to another division, forcing Tom to lose everything he has ever achieved. Tom decides to sue and hires a female lawyer to fight his case. Tom does manage to wriggle out of the sexual harassment case but, while trying to make sense of Meredith's vicious rumormongering, he comes across a production problem that may spell big trouble for the company's merger plans; and reveal Meredith's real motives. |
