Cheaper by the Dozen 2 is the sequel to the family comedy Cheaper by the Dozen (2003). The film was released on December 21, 2005 by 20th Century Fox, who produced and distributed the first film. Shawn Levy, the director of the first film, did not return for this sequel, which was instead directed by Adam Shankman (The Pacifier) . Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff, Piper Perabo, and Tom Welling reprise their roles as members of the 12-child Baker family. Eugene Levy co-stars as the patriarch of a rival family of eight children. Carmen Electra has a brief role as Levy's trophy wife. The film did not follow the storyline of the novel Belles on Their Toes, which was a sequel book to the original Cheaper by the Dozen novel. Both were written by Frank Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. Belles on Their Toes was made into a film in 1952 as a follow-up to the 1950 film version of Cheaper by the Dozen. Filming in Toronto began on June 13, 2005, and was scheduled to finish on September 2 . The July 2005 issue of People Magazine had the first picture preview of the film. The film was released in theaters on December 21, 2005. |
