  Babe: Pig in the City
Movie Review

Babe: Pig in the city is the 1998 sequel to the film Babe. It occurs in the fictional city of Metropolis. Due to the unexpected darker and more mature subject matter (the film includes a scene in which a dog almost drowns while hanging from a bridge), the film was not received as well critically as the first Babe movie was, but reviews were generally positive, and the film has developed a cult following. Film critic Gene Siskel named it as his choice for the best movie of 1998.

After Babe's great victory in the shepherding contest, Farmer Arthur Hoggett turns down all offers to make money with his pig's talents. But when he gets hurt severely in the well, his wife has to take up farming. She does her best but cannot meet the bank's requirements, which results in the necessity of getting back to Babe. Soon, Esme Hoggett is sitting in a plane headed for "the" city. There, Babe unwillingly causes trouble. He has to stay with Mrs. Hoggett in the only hotel in town that accepts pets. Friendly neighbours send officials who catch all animals from the hotel: Cats, dogs, chimpanzees and many others. Babe, who managed to stay free, decides to help his new friends and gets unexpected help - not only by Ferdinand, who flew all the way to the city.

The city appears to be a composition of various cities, featuring various skyscrapers like the World Trade Center, Sears Tower, Chrysler Building, IDS Center, MetLife Building, and others. There are also other landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, the Hollywood sign, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Fernsehturm and many other landmarks. It also has a variety of waterways, noticeable by the hotel at which Babe stays. The main city appears to be situated on an island not dissimilar to Manhattan Island.
