Dance of Death is Iron Maiden's thirteenth studio album, released September 8th, 2003. The album marks the first writing of lyrics for Nicko McBrain who helped write the song New Frontier. The song "Paschendale" is about the WW1 battle, The Battle of Passchendaele. The album also saw a new addition to Maiden's stage show. During Dance of Death Bruce would wear theatrical masks and a cape while dancing around the stage. At the end he would dress up as the Grim Reaper for the final chorus. This may have inspired him to dress up in the redcoat during Trooper on the band's next tour. When the cover art was first revealed on the Internet, most Iron Maiden fans believed that the band was playing a prank, but sadly that was not the case; it is frequently regarded as one of the ugliest album covers ever. |
